Identify the shelf and the goods

Record the item, packaging and exact place where evidence was found. Small insects within a dry food product and damage to an outer carton are different observations. Note what you actually saw rather than assuming all nearby stock is affected.

Keep the original context

Photographs and dates can help explain how the evidence was distributed. Avoid moving affected stock through the rest of the premises before receiving handling instructions. Explain any incoming deliveries or recent storage changes that may be relevant to the assessment.

Make the access arrangements specific

Say who controls the stockroom, whether shelves or equipment restrict access and when the area is occupied. At a shared property, identify any adjoining spaces managed by another party. An enquiry for one business does not authorize work in neighboring premises.

Confirm handling, records and follow-up

Ask what should happen to affected goods, how the area should be prepared and which work is included. Inspection, stock disposal, cleaning and building repairs can be separate responsibilities. Confirm any documentation your premises needs before booking; a private pest visit does not by itself guarantee an audit or compliance outcome.
