Mouse signs in the garage or the house?

Keep garage, storage and indoor observations distinct when asking about mouse activity and accessible entry points at a Westchester home.

Record where the first sign appeared

Name the shelf, doorway or room where the evidence was noticed and the date. A mouse seen indoors is different evidence from chewed packaging in a garage. Record both if they occurred, but leave identification and the relationship between them open for assessment.

Look at what is already accessible

EPA guidance identifies chewing, damaged packaging and droppings near stored goods as possible rodent signs. Describe what you can see without shifting heavy shelves or opening building cavities. Stored pet food or birdseed can be relevant context even when it is outside the kitchen.

Clarify whether connected spaces are included

Ask whether the proposed assessment covers the garage, adjacent rooms and accessible outside openings. A quote for one room may not include a detached structure. If an opening needs repair, confirm whether that is part of the service or a separate maintenance task.

Keep new observations dated

Store the agreed preparation and follow-up instructions with your notes. Record fresh sightings separately from evidence already documented. At a managed property, make sure the person who can provide access receives the relevant information without sharing unnecessary details about occupants.
